OSM Singapore Workshop

People often debate what makes a better leader: the no-nonsense, results-focused type, or the motivational, people-focused type. At OSM, we believe that it’s a hybrid between people as well as result focus.

OCIMF describes result focus competency as
§ Focuses on achieving desired results and how to best achieve them
§ Takes conscientious action to get the job done, suing initiative and energy, and demonstrating flexibility and emotional toughness

Our Workshop at OSM Singapore, was on working towards being “People Focused” as well as “Result Focused”.

James Zenger surveyed over 60,000 employees to see which leadership characteristics made leaders “great” in the eyes of their employees. Leaders who primarily focused on results were seen as great just 14% of the time, and leaders who primarily focused on people were seen as great only 12% of the time. However, leaders who were able to balance their approach and focus equally on results and people were seen as great at a whopping 72% of the time. It’s the potent combination of the two that consistently make leaders great. We had training cum workshop sessions with our shore teams in hybrid mode.

Due to COVID 19, we were unable to have more than 06-07 personnel in the meeting rooms, but that has not dampened our spirits. In fact, it gave us an opportunity to have the personnel from manila also to participate virtually and have a complete fleet team in attendance.

The workshop started with us understanding the character traits of our team, and how we can support and work with each other towards achieving the desired goals. Sharing an extract also from the session.
